CNAN El Djazair, the national goods transport company, announced the reinforcement of its maritime services targeting the West African market. This involves the launch of a regular maritime journey connecting Algerian ports to Nouakchott and Nouadhibou in Mauritania, and Dakar in Senegal. These crossings are scheduled every 30 days, with a transit period of up to six days, as part of an effort to bolster maritime connections between Algeria and the African market and to support commercial exchanges, particularly Algerian exports outside the hydrocarbon sector.<\/p>\n
To facilitate this new service, CNAN El Djazair is deploying a fleet of nine Algerian-flagged vessels. This fleet includes two ships dedicated to container transport and seven for general cargo, designed to handle various types of shipments and meet the needs of economic operators. This initiative aligns with Algeria's commitment to expanding the presence of its products across the African market, especially within the western region of the continent, by providing consistent maritime transport solutions that enhance the arrival and departure of national products, thereby strengthening their competitiveness. This development is a key component of Algeria's strategy to diversify its external markets and increase trade within its African environment. It builds upon previous efforts, including a cargo crossing to Nouakchott announced in early June, with monthly departures from Djen Djen and Algiers ports. The increased focus on the Mauritanian route also solidifies commitments made between the two nations during the 8th edition of the Algerian products and services fair in Nouakchott last May. During this event, seven contracts were signed between Algerian and Mauritanian economic operators, notably an agreement involving Air Alg\u00e9rie Cargo, GATMA branches, and CNAN for the shipment of 500,000 tonnes of cement valued at $50 million.
