These firms will present their expertise and solutions across several critical areas, including electrolysis, water treatment and desalination, storage and compression, industrial equipment, pipeline conversion, materials, engineering, accreditation, and feasibility studies. The gathering is designed to bring together energy institutions, companies, manufacturers, investors, and funding bodies for technical presentations and pre-arranged bilateral meetings, representing an additional step in realizing the strategic South Corridor hydrogen project, which aims to link Algeria with Germany via Italy.<\/p>\n
The South Corridor 2 project, deemed pivotal for a fair and sustainable energy transition in the Mediterranean region, has garnered significant European recognition. It was included in the European Commission's second list of Projects of Common Interest and Projects of Mutual Interest last December, affirming its strategic importance as one of Europe's primary hydrogen infrastructure initiatives. This corridor is designed to connect North Africa with Europe over 3300 kilometers, with a projected capacity to transport approximately 4 million tons of green hydrogen annually by 2030, utilizing a combination of new and adapted gas pipelines.<\/p>\n
Algeria is positioned as a leading Arab nation in green hydrogen export opportunities, largely due to this ambitious project. The initiative not only supports reducing carbon emissions in industrial centers along its route but also holds substantial potential for scaling hydrogen production, infrastructure, and distribution.
