Their responsibilities encompass ongoing surveillance of the adjacent border area, providing operational support to various customs brigades, and maintaining permanent coordination with National Gendarmerie units to combat all forms of cross-border criminality. These posts are designed to operate continuously, day and night, with agents working on a rotation basis, while also ensuring the security of personnel, assets, and seized goods. Locations specified include Tlemcen, Na\u00e2ma, and Souk Ahras, indicating a comprehensive network beyond major crossing points.<\/p>\n
In addition to security measures, the economic control of goods is also being strengthened. Two inter-ministerial decrees, signed on May 5, 2026, have modified the system of quality control and fraud suppression inspections. The number of these inspections has been increased to fifty-three (53) across land, maritime, and airport borders, as well as in customs zones and warehouses. Their deployment has also been updated, covering key locations such as ports, airports, and terrestrial posts, including Algiers, Oran, B\u00e9ja\u00efa, Skikda, Annaba, Djen Djen, Maghnia, In Guezzam, Debdeb, Heddada, Tin Zaouatine, and Bordj Badji Mokhtar.<\/p>\n
These three new texts collectively form a coherent system, significantly enhancing customs presence and surveillance capabilities on the ground, while also expanding the coverage of quality control and fraud suppression services at entry, exit points, and in customs zones. The focus has evolved beyond merely controlling crossings to include more thorough tracking of goods and their compliance.
