Valued at 176.3 million Norwegian Krone, these shipments positioned Algeria ahead of the United States, which supplied 23,260 tons during the same period. This achievement underscores Algeria's growing stature in the global ammonia market.

The July 2026 figures highlight a significant increase in Algerian ammonia supplies to Norway, with shipments nearly doubling from 13,526 tons in June to 25,463 tons in July, marking an 88.3 percent volumetric rise. The value of these exports also saw a substantial increase of 61.8 percent, from 108.9 million to 176.3 million Krone. Algerian shipments alone constituted approximately 43.4 percent of Norway's total anhydrous ammonia imports in July, with Algeria and the United States together accounting for about 83.1 percent of the total.

This strong performance in the Norwegian market builds on Algeria's consistent role as a major ammonia exporter. In 2025, Norway imported approximately 144,233 tons of anhydrous ammonia from Algeria across eight months, totaling around 754.2 million Krone. Globally, Algeria exported nearly 971,000 tons of anhydrous ammonia in 2024, solidifying its position among leading international suppliers. Furthermore, Algeria was a prominent supplier of seaborne ammonia to the European Union during the first quarter of 2026, contributing 30 percent of the total European imports, which amounted to 717,000 tons.

Algeria became Norway’s leading supplier of anhydrous ammonia in July 2026, exporting over 25,000 tons.
