Relizane province has concluded its 2025-2026 agricultural season's harvest-threshing campaign with the collection of approximately 1.05 million quintals of various cereal varieties. This figure represents a notable progression when compared to the preceding season, which yielded less than 300,000 quintals. The harvested cereals were gathered at storage centers managed by the Oued Rhiou<\/a> and Relizane cereals and dried vegetables cooperatives, covering a total area of 88,000 hectares.<\/p>\n

The increase in cereal production is primarily attributed to the substantial rainfall recorded in the region, particularly during January and February, which significantly improved crop yields. The average cereal yield for the season was around 16 quintals per hectare, with some highly productive areas, notably in Mend\u00e8s and Sidi M'hamed Ben Ali, achieving yields of up to 60 quintals per hectare. These details were provided by Houcine Djebbar<\/a>, head of the production organization and technical support service at the Directorate of Agricultural Services (DSA).<\/p>\n

In support of this agricultural success, Relizane province has benefited from the operationalization of six new proximity cereal storage centers during the current agricultural campaign. Each of these centers offers a capacity of 50,000 quintals and are part of a total of eight warehouses allocated to the province. Located in communes such as Sidi Khettab, Belassel Bouzegza, Had Chekala, Ouled A\u00efche, and Sidi M'hamed Ben Ali, these new infrastructures have expanded the province's overall storage capacity from 900,000 to 1.2 million quintals, improving crop preservation and bringing storage closer to agricultural operations.<\/p>\n

The successful execution of the harvest-threshing campaign was further supported by the mobilization of substantial material resources. This included 324 combine harvesters, 3,346 tractors, 629 balers, 1,240 tanks, and over 1,700 trailers, among other equipment. These resources were instrumental in ensuring favorable operational conditions and facilitating the efficient collection and storage of cereal production across the wilaya, as confirmed by Mr. Djebbar.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
