This significant event, initially postponed due to exceptional circumstances of fires across several wilayas last August, honored the martyrdom of Messika Ziza and other heroines who perished on August 29, 1959. The ALN hospital, a vital medical facility for combatants, was situated in the Al-Aarta region within the historical Second Wilaya.

A range of solemn activities marked the commemoration. At the historical landmark where the Al-Aarta hospital once stood, the national flag was raised, and Al-Fatiha was recited in memory of the martyrs, followed by the placement of a floral tribute. The ceremony witnessed a notable turnout of local civilian and military authorities, along with veterans from the Second Historical Wilaya, citizens, youth, and contingents from the Islamic Scouts. Further enriching the event, a historical exhibition organized by the Regional Museum of the Mujahid offered detailed explanations of this pivotal historical occasion.

An additional celebratory gathering was held at Khnaq Mayoun municipality's multi-activity hall, featuring compelling live testimonies from local mujahideen, including Said Boulkera. Children from Khnaq Mayoun also contributed, presenting cultural and artistic performances that vividly depicted the Algerian people's steadfast struggle against colonialism. Messika Ziza, whose real name was Sakina, was born in Merouana, Batna Province, in 1934. She pursued higher education in medicine in France before returning to Algeria to join the ranks of the mujahideen as a nurse, demonstrating exceptional bravery and dedication in her role.

Messika Ziza was martyred at the age of 25 during the French colonial aircraft attack on the heights of the El Qoll region. As the official in charge of the ALN hospital's administration, she performed her humanitarian and national duty by treating wounded freedom fighters. Upon the discovery of the hospital by French aircraft, she displayed immense courage, initiating efforts to camouflage and assist her colleagues, ultimately sacrificing her life when directly hit in the head, a testament to her profound commitment to the cause of liberation. The commemoration was a collaborative effort by Khnaq Mayoun municipality, the Directorate of Mujahideen, the Regional Museum, and the "Joussour" Association for Memory Preservation.

The municipality of Khnaq Mayoun recently commemorated the 67th anniversary of the colonial army’s bombing of a National Liberation Army (ALN) hospital, honoring the brave Messika Ziza and other martyrs.

[41

post-77995","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-culture
["GET
