Abdelmadjid Tebboune, the independent candidate for the September 7 presidential elections, reaffirmed his commitment to sustaining social support policies by assisting vulnerable groups and enhancing citizens’ purchasing power, along with bolstering economic development across various sectors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During his address on the “Direct Expression” program broadcasted by audiovisual media, part of the first day of the election campaign, Tebboune pledged to continue the “achievements made in economic and financial fields” and to maintain a “youth-supportive policy, preserving the social character of the state, and advancing housing projects in various formats.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Tebboune also emphasized his commitment to fighting various negative phenomena and scourges, such as bribery and corruption, while protecting vulnerable groups, including people with disabilities and those who are ill.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The independent candidate also aims to continue improving the purchasing power of citizens by reducing taxes and increasing wages, with planned salary increases expected to reach 100% by 2027. He also intends to raise pension allowances.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moreover, Tebboune vowed to continue combating inflation, which, according to him, has been reduced from 11% to 6%, a move he believes will gradually “strengthen the value of the national currency.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
On the local level, Tebboune promised to review the municipal and provincial laws, expanding the powers of elected officials to enhance democracy at the municipal level, and to reconsider administrative divisions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Additionally, the independent candidate highlighted the achievements of his first presidential term, including the “recovery of stolen public funds through the issuance of nearly 285 judicial commissions across 32 countries, which involved 755 bank accounts.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He also addressed the challenges faced during the early part of his previous term, such as the global crisis caused by COVID-19, attempts to create shortages of essential goods, and wildfires in some provinces. Tebboune assured that the Algerian state “did not abandon its citizens and worked to compensate those affected.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
