Organized by the International Institute for <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-external\" data-dzsl=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.undp.org\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Sustainable Development<\/a> (IISD), the forum took place in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from September 16 to 18, 2026. This year&#39;s session operated under the theme, &quot;Aligning International, Regional, and National Investment Frameworks for a Sustainable Future,&quot; underscoring the global commitment to integrated investment strategies.<\/p>\n<p>Forum discussions centered on the evolution of international investment rules and their impact on regional and national investment frameworks and policies. A significant focus was placed on ongoing reforms in investment governance, with particular attention to the concept of &quot;vertical coherence.&quot; This approach emphasizes achieving compatibility and integration among investment-related policies and tools across international, regional, and national levels, ensuring that commitments at one level support, rather than conflict with, objectives at another, thereby promoting effective and sustainable developmental outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>The forum also addressed the risks and opportunities associated with fragmented or inconsistent investment frameworks, exploring practical tools and approaches to enhance more cohesive, flexible, and sustainable investment governance systems.
