Algeria<\/a> has embarked on a significant digital transformation, spearheaded by the High Commission<\/a> for Digitalization. Over the past three years, the Commission has initiated multiple projects and structures aimed at building an integrated digital system. This strategic roadmap, aligned with President Abdelmadjid Tebboune's commitments, seeks to enhance transparency, eradicate bureaucracy, and establish a modern economy<\/a> prioritizing citizen needs. The National Digital Transformation Strategy, published in May 2025, serves as a comprehensive framework, unifying efforts across government sectors and public entities.<\/p>\n

Key technical advancements have underscored Algeria's commitment to digital sovereignty. The nation successfully launched its first sovereign national cloud computing system, providing storage and computational resources to all government sectors and official bodies within a shared digital environment. This initiative is complemented by the establishment of national data centers, certified with international Tier III recognition, ensuring service continuity, alternative power, and advanced physical and digital security. These information hubs are interconnected by the sovereign IRIES network, which links various ministries and public institutions into a unified, secure system, ensuring efficient information flow and protection against external breaches.<\/p>\n

To safeguard this robust digital infrastructure, Algeria has established a Cyber Security Operations Center (SOC) and a Network Operations Center (NOC). These centers operate 24 hours a day, monitoring cyber threats, analyzing data traffic, and promptly addressing technical malfunctions or attempted intrusions, thereby providing advanced digital immunity for critical national infrastructure. A major milestone in citizen-centric services was reached on July 5, 2026, with President Tebboune<\/a>'s inauguration of the National Algerian Digital Services Center. This expansion of the Dzair Digital Services portal streamlines numerous complex administrative procedures, significantly reducing the need for physical visits and long queues, marking a symbolic achievement coinciding with Independence and Youth Day.<\/p>\n

Looking ahead, the focus is on evolving beyond simple digitization to fundamentally rethink public services, making them simpler and clearer, enabling citizens to complete transactions with minimal steps. Algeria is also actively engaging in the international discourse on Artificial Intelligence, with Minister for the High Commission for Digitalization, Meriem Benmoloud, signing on behalf of Algeria as a founding member of the World Artificial Intelligence Organization during a global conference in China. This move enables Algeria to participate more extensively in AI governance discussions, share expertise, and keep pace with developments in the field.
