Minister Arkab is accompanied by a high-level delegation including the CEO of <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-external\" data-dzsl=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/sonatrach.com\/en\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Sonatrach<\/a>, Nordine Daoudi, the Vice President of Refining and Petrochemicals, and the CEO of SIPEX, along with other sector executives.<\/p>\n<p>A primary focus of the visit is the progress of the strategic Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline (TSGP) project, which links Algeria, Niger, and Nigeria, promoting <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-internal\" data-dzsl=\"internal\" href=\"https:\/\/dzwatch.dz\/?p=78973\">regional energy<\/a> integration and gas infrastructure development across <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-external\" data-dzsl=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.au.int\/en\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Africa<\/a>. Algeria initiated construction on its section of the pipeline in June 2026, with preparations and studies for the Nigerien portion continuing. The <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-internal\" data-dzsl=\"internal\" href=\"https:\/\/dzwatch.dz\/?p=78882\">Algerian delegation<\/a> is also reviewing developments in Sonatrach&#39;s exploration project with SONIDAP in the KAFRA block and evaluating new oil blocks in Niger, including Bilma.<\/p>\n<p>The visit further seeks to enhance cooperation and coordination in refining and petrochemicals, specifically by monitoring major maintenance work at the Zinder refinery in Niger. Discussions with Nigerien officials are anticipated to cover strengthening bilateral energy cooperation, advancing existing joint ventures, and exploring new partnership opportunities between specialized institutions in both countries.
