A central focus of discussions was the <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-internal\" data-dzsl=\"internal\" href=\"https:\/\/dzwatch.dz\/?p=79258\">Trans-Saharan Gas Pipeline<\/a> (TSGP) project, a significant geostrategic infrastructure designed to connect Nigeria, Niger, and <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-internal\" data-dzsl=\"internal\" href=\"https:\/\/dzwatch.dz\/?cat=1\">Algeria<\/a>, facilitating the transport of African gas to international markets.<\/p>\n<p>Following the official launch of the Algerian section of the TSGP in June, the Niamey discussions primarily centered on the progress of studies and preparations for the pipeline&#39;s essential segment crossing Nigerien territory. Beyond the gas pipeline, Algeria and Niger are actively consolidating partnerships in oil exploration and refining. This includes monitoring joint research and exploration operations conducted by Algeria&#39;s Sonatrach and Niger&#39;s national oil company, Sonidep, at the Kafra oil block, alongside evaluating new exploration opportunities, particularly within the strategic Bilma block.<\/p>\n<p>The bilateral cooperation further extends to industrial maintenance, with efforts directed towards overseeing major maintenance and optimization work at the Zinder refinery in Niger. This initiative aims to bolster Niger&#39;s capacities in refining and petrochemicals, aligning with a shared vision for energy sovereignty.
