The Second International Cancer Patient Congress, held in Algiers under the high patronage of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, highlighted Algeria<\/a>'s national commitment to advancing cancer care. Organized by the Algerian Federation of Cancer Patient Associations (FAAPAC), the congress convened institutions, health<\/a> professionals, and patient representatives around the central theme, "The patient at the heart of a global approach." During the proceedings, Minister of Health Mohamed Seddik Ait Messaoud\u00e8ne announced the integration of 52 innovative treatments, including targeted and immune therapies, into the national treatment arsenal to broaden options for patients.<\/p>\n

Algeria regards the fight against cancer as a national priority, supported by a comprehensive vision and sustained efforts. Financial commitments include over 73 billion dinars allocated to the Cancer Fund, with an additional 40 billion dinars reinforcing it annually, supplementary to state budget credits. The provisions for anti-cancer medications have also been increased to 40 billion dinars this year. The national healthcare infrastructure for cancer care currently comprises 15 cancer control centers, 24 radiotherapy centers, and 61 linear accelerators. Plans are in motion to further expand this network with the establishment of 25 new radiotherapy departments and the acquisition of 16 additional linear accelerators by 2028. A PET scan device is also set to commence operations in Tizi Ouzou before the end of the current year.<\/p>\n

Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry Ouacim Kouidri underscored Algeria's advancements in local anti-cancer drug production, noting that 11 pharmaceutical companies, including the public complex Saidal, are actively involved. The country now produces 172 anti-cancer drugs, achieving 100% local production for dry anti-cancer medications. Initiatives such as a "green corridor" within the National Agency for Pharmaceutical Products are designed to expedite drug registration, particularly for locally manufactured treatments, while Saidal's research and development projects, including the Algerian Institute of Stem Cell Therapy, aim to foster innovation. Additionally, the Minister of National Solidarity<\/a>, Family, and Women<\/a>'s Issues, Soraya Mouloudji, detailed efforts to support patients and their families through social care centers, free medication for uninsured, destitute individuals and their minor children<\/a> without prescription limits, and financial aid to accredited social associations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
