This initiative underscores Algeria&#39;s strategic objective to enhance its position as an energy transit country and bolster its economic footprint in the Sahel region.<\/p>\n<p>The TSGP is designed to transport Nigerien gas through Niger and Algeria to European markets. As part of the current phase, the Nigerien side is expected to begin topographical surveying of the route, concurrently with the execution of environmental and geotechnological studies. This follows an announcement in June by Algeria&#39;s <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-external\" data-dzsl=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/sonatrach.com\/en\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Sonatrach<\/a>, confirming the start of work on the Algerian section of the pipeline. In the same month, hydrocarbon ministers from Algeria, Niger, and Nigeria officially declared the commencement of TSGP works from Adrar, in Algeria&#39;s deep south.<\/p>\n<p>The progress on the pipeline project occurs within a framework of rapidly strengthening bilateral ties. Nigerien Prime Minister Ali Lamine Zeine recently lauded Algeria&#39;s substantial support for his country during the UN <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-internal\" data-dzsl=\"internal\" href=\"https:\/\/dzwatch.dz\/?p=80033\">General Assembly<\/a>. He specifically highlighted Algeria&#39;s significant <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-internal\" data-dzsl=\"internal\" href=\"https:\/\/dzwatch.dz\/?cat=50\">investment<\/a> in Niger&#39;s natural resource exploitation, continuous backing for its defense system, and dynamic cooperation across health, <a class=\"dzsl-auto-link dzsl-external\" data-dzsl=\"external\" href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/en\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">education<\/a>, energy, water, agriculture, and major infrastructure projects like the triple gas pipeline and the Trans-Saharan Road. Diplomatic relations between Algeria and Niger were fully restored in February, following a period of interruption, leading to accelerated collaboration in critical areas such as energy and defense.
