This development aligns with the commitment expressed by Nigerien Oil Minister Hamadou Tinni, who confirmed Niamey's intention to keep pace with Algeria<\/a>'s project timeline. This progression follows a recent working visit by Algeria's Minister of Hydrocarbons, Mohamed Arkab, to Niamey, where discussions with Nigerien President Abdourahamane Tiani and Prime Minister Ali Mahaman Lamine Zeine focused on the TSGP's progress and the necessity of coordinated efforts for the topographical survey campaign.<\/p>\n

The updated feasibility study's final report for the TSGP was adopted in Algiers on June 3, following the fifth ministerial meeting of the Steering Committee involving Algeria, Niger, and Nigeria. This document now serves as a key technical and economic reference for subsequent project stages, with Algeria having already announced the commencement of work on its section. Niger views the TSGP not merely as a transit corridor but as a strategic infrastructure project capable of leveraging its own gas resources, fostering the development of its national gas market, and supporting sectors like electricity, industry, and processing activities, including potential for power plants and fertilizer production.<\/p>\n

This significant pipeline development is part of a broader and deepening energy partnership between Algeria<\/a> and Niger. Cooperation includes the Kafra project, where Algerian and Nigerien Prime Ministers launched drilling operations for four exploration wells in Agadez on August 13, with Sonatrach<\/a> and its subsidiary Sipex actively involved. Work at Kafra is reportedly progressing well, with drilling exceeding 700 meters.
