{"id":8676,"date":"2024-10-20T11:31:10","date_gmt":"2024-10-20T10:31:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dzwatch.dz\/?p=8676"},"modified":"2024-10-20T11:31:11","modified_gmt":"2024-10-20T10:31:11","slug":"madghacen-international-marathon-1200-runners-participate-in-the-14th-edition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dzwatch.dz\/?p=8676","title":{"rendered":"Madghacen International Marathon: 1,200 Runners Participate in the 14th Edition"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Batna<\/strong> \u2013 The province of <strong>Batna<\/strong> hosted the <strong>14th edition of the Madghacen International Marathon<\/strong> on Saturday, featuring the participation of <strong>1,200 male and female runners<\/strong> from 40 provinces across Algeria, along with several international students residing in the country.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The starting signal for the event, organized by the <strong>Friends of Madghacen Association<\/strong> in collaboration with the <strong>Batna Athletics League<\/strong>, was given in front of the <strong>November 1, 1954 Sports Complex<\/strong> in the city of Batna, under the supervision of the province&#8217;s secretary-general, <strong>Rachid Zouad<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The marathon comprised <strong>three race categories<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A <strong>13-km race<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A <strong>21.1-km relay race (2&#215;10.55 km)<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>full marathon covering 42.195 km<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants followed a carefully managed route from the starting point to the <strong>Madghacen Royal Numidian Mausoleum<\/strong>, where the event concluded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>According to <strong>Azeddine Gherfi<\/strong>, president of the Friends of Madghacen Association, the marathon is not just an athletic competition but also serves <strong>cultural and promotional purposes<\/strong>, aiming to raise awareness about the historical importance of the <strong>Numidian royal tomb<\/strong> and highlight the need to <strong>preserve and protect<\/strong> this ancient monument.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Meanwhile, <strong>Hakim Laghwil<\/strong>, director of events and competitions at the Batna Athletics League, praised the <strong>ideal conditions<\/strong> for the runners, including the well-prepared course and the <strong>refreshing autumn weather<\/strong> that contributed to a smooth race.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On <strong>Friday evening<\/strong>, participants attended a special presentation at the <strong>Scientific Leisure Center<\/strong> within the <strong>Kechida Cultural and Sports District<\/strong> in Batna.
