Algiers<\/strong> \u2013 Algeria\u2019s Minister of Energy and Mines, Mohamed Arkab, held a meeting on Thursday with Natasha Van Rijn<\/em>, the UNDP\u2019s Resident Representative in Algeria, at the ministry\u2019s headquarters. The meeting was attended by senior officials from the ministry and focused on evaluating and enhancing the existing cooperation between Algeria and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The discussions highlighted the progress of joint initiatives, particularly in partnership with the National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use<\/em> (APRUE). Key areas of collaboration included technical support and the exchange of expertise on projects aimed at improving energy efficiency and advancing the country\u2019s energy transition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Both parties also explored expanding cooperation to encompass renewable energy sectors, such as solar photovoltaics<\/strong> and wind energy<\/strong>, as well as the development of green hydrogen<\/strong>. They discussed green hydrogen’s potential as a sustainable energy alternative to reduce the carbon footprint of the industrial sector. In addition, they emphasized promoting clean and sustainable transportation<\/strong> solutions to further Algeria\u2019s goal of lowering emissions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
