Algiers<\/strong> \u2013 Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, Mokhtar Didouche, underscored the critical role of investment<\/strong> in driving the growth of Algeria\u2019s tourism sector, particularly in regions with significant potential to become standout tourist destinations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaking during a public session in the National People\u2019s Assembly (APN)<\/strong>, where several ministers addressed oral questions from deputies, Didouche responded to inquiries about supporting tourism investments in key areas such as Algiers, Ghardaia, Mostaganem, M\u2019Sila,<\/strong> and Oran<\/strong>. The minister emphasized that the government\u2019s goal is to promote diverse forms of tourism<\/strong>, including coastal, desert, thermal,<\/strong> and eco-tourism<\/strong>, by developing and preparing tourism expansion zones<\/strong> to make them accessible to investors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ghardaia\u2019s Untapped Tourism Potential<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The minister highlighted that Ghardaia<\/strong> offers a wealth of tourism opportunities, boasting four tourism expansion zones<\/strong> spanning 277 hectares<\/strong>. He stressed the importance of leveraging these assets to attract investors and elevate the region as a key destination in the country\u2019s tourism strategy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Addressing Infrastructure Gaps and Lowering Costs<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Didouche also emphasized the need to expand tourism projects<\/strong> across the mentioned regions to address shortfalls in accommodation facilities<\/strong> and reduce prices<\/strong> to make tourism more accessible and attractive. He acknowledged the existing infrastructure gaps and reiterated the importance of improving these areas to meet the growing expectations of visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Revitalizing Historic Sites for Eco-Tourism<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The minister discussed efforts to restore historic palaces (qsours)<\/strong> and farms (houache)<\/strong> located within agricultural zones of Algiers<\/strong>. In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture<\/strong>, the tourism ministry is working to rehabilitate these sites and incorporate them into the national tourism program. “These efforts will play a key role in promoting eco-tourism<\/strong>, offering visitors sustainable experiences that align with Algeria\u2019s cultural and environmental heritage,” said Didouche.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
