Algiers, October 25, 2024<\/strong> \u2013 The Speaker of the Algerian People’s National Assembly, Mr. Brahim Boughali, has concluded his official visit to South Korea, following an invitation from his South Korean counterpart, Mr. Kim Jin-pyo, Speaker of the National Assembly of South Korea, according to a statement released by the Algerian parliament on Friday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

During the three-day visit, Mr. Boughali explored key industrial and cultural sites, including the Hyundai and LG complexes, as well as the National Museum of Korea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the Hyundai complex<\/strong>, Mr. Boughali toured various production lines and observed critical departments, such as those dedicated to future vehicles powered by hydrogen and electronic technologies<\/strong>. In a side meeting with Hyundai executives, accompanied by the Algerian Ambassador to South Korea, Mr. Boughali praised the company’s growth and confirmed the preparations for a new Hyundai factory in Algeria<\/strong> set to begin operations in 2025.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Hyundai officials provided insights into the global expansion of their assembly network, which is expected to reach 15 factories worldwide<\/strong>. With production capacities forecasted to hit 1.5 million vehicles in South Korea and 3 million units from overseas plants<\/strong>, the planned Algerian factory is seen as a key component of this expansion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mr. Boughali expressed confidence that Hyundai’s factory in Algeria will not only meet the high domestic demand but also position itself as a regional hub for exports to Africa<\/strong>. This aligns with Algeria’s broader ambitions to boost local industrial capacity and become a leading manufacturer in the region.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In discussions on Algeria\u2019s new investment law<\/strong>, Mr. Boughali highlighted the improved business climate<\/strong> and the role of start-ups in enhancing local supply chains<\/strong>, which will support higher integration rates in domestic manufacturing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At the LG research and development center<\/strong>, specifically the “Innovation Hall,” Mr. Boughali explored cutting-edge products, such as third-generation service robots<\/strong> designed for use in hotels, restaurants, and homes. He also reviewed advanced electronic car components<\/strong>, including control panels, batteries, and AI-powered charging systems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The LG executives shared insights into the company’s expansion into new sectors, including pharmaceuticals and agricultural technologies<\/strong>, reflecting its diversified approach to innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the final leg of his trip, Mr. Boughali visited the National Museum of Korea<\/strong>, founded in 1945. The museum, home to nearly 4 million artifacts, offers visitors a daily display of around 150,000 pieces<\/strong>, providing a glimpse into the rich history and heritage of the Korean people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This visit reflects the growing partnership between Algeria and South Korea, as both nations explore opportunities for cooperation in technology, manufacturing, and cultural exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
