Algiers<\/strong> \u2013 President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces and Minister of National Defense, presided over a grand military parade on Friday, organized by the National People\u2019s Army to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the November 1 Revolution. This event was a showcase of Algeria\u2019s military prowess and a tribute to the heroes of the nation\u2019s liberation struggle, according to a statement from the Ministry of National Defense.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parade, held on National Road 11 near the Great Mosque of Algiers, was attended by honored guests, including the Presidents of Tunisia, Mauritania, and the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic, as well as the head of Libya\u2019s Presidential Council. Representatives from other allied and friendly countries also participated, highlighting Algeria\u2019s regional and international ties.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Lieutenant General Sa\u00efd Chengriha, Chief of Staff of the National People\u2019s Army, welcomed President Tebboune upon his arrival. Attending the event were senior government and military officials, such as the President of the Council of the Nation, the President of the People\u2019s National Assembly, the President of the Constitutional Court, the Prime Minister, and members of the government. The Commander of the Republican Guard, military branch leaders, and other top officials, as well as representatives from Algeria\u2019s revolutionary legacy and the diplomatic community, were also present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ceremony Highlights<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony began with President Tebboune, accompanied by Lieutenant General Chengriha, inspecting the assembled military formations to the sound of military bands. In honor of the historic occasion, a 70-gun salute marked the anniversary, followed by the national anthem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In his address, President Tebboune congratulated the Algerian people on this monumental anniversary and praised the National People\u2019s Army for their dedication to safeguarding Algeria\u2019s security and stability. He highlighted that “this national occasion, filled with pride and honor, is a reminder that Algeria, victorious over colonialism, confidently continues its journey of success thanks to the sons and daughters loyal to the legacy of our martyrs.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n

He extended his tribute to the National People\u2019s Army and all security forces stationed at the borders and beyond, defending Algeria\u2019s land, airspace, and waters, and committed to preserving the nation\u2019s sovereignty and security. He reiterated that the army\u2019s mission is defensive, designed solely to protect Algeria\u2019s sovereignty and contribute to global peace, aligned with Algeria\u2019s constitutional and international commitments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parade Showcases Army\u2019s Capabilities<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

After President Tebboune\u2019s address, the parade officially commenced. It began with formations of the Republican Guard\u2019s musical ensemble and cavalry, followed by symbolic units of veterans, cadets, and military school representatives. Units from the National Police, Civil Protection, and Customs Directorate also participated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The display continued with Algeria\u2019s land combat vehicles, featuring tanks, mechanized infantry vehicles, various artillery types, advanced air defense systems, and specialized engineering vehicles for support, bridging, and medical assistance. The Gendarmerie National\u2019s motorcycle units added further diversity to the formations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Algeria\u2019s air capabilities were also on full display over Algiers Bay, as tactical transport aircraft, fighter jets, reconnaissance planes, and helicopters performed aerial maneuvers, showcasing their role in air mobility, reconnaissance, and search-and-rescue operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebration concluded with a vibrant performance by paratroopers from the National Military Parachuting Team, followed by naval displays along Algiers Bay featuring a variety of warships, including submarines, frigates, minesweepers, and search-and-rescue vessels, representing Algeria\u2019s powerful and versatile naval capabilities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The military parade closed with an impressive artistic performance by the Republican Guard\u2019s Mazoud Band, providing a grand finale to a day honoring Algeria\u2019s enduring spirit and commitment to its historical legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
