The 27th edition of the Algerian International Book Fair (SILA) was officially launched by Soraya Mouloudji, Algeria’s Minister of Culture and Arts. This year’s edition holds special significance as it marks the 70th anniversary of Algeria\u2019s Revolution, highlighted in various cultural and literary activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Mohamed Iguerb, the fair\u2019s commissioner, noted the impressive international representation, with 1,007 exhibitors from 40 countries, an achievement he says places Algeria among leading global nations in the literary and cultural sphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For the first time, under Mouloudji\u2019s patronage, the \u201cMy First Book\u201d prize will be awarded to emerging authors under the age of 35. Additionally, there will be ceremonies honoring freedom fighters and the families of martyrs, further enriching the event\u2019s connection to Algeria\u2019s history.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Qatar joins this year\u2019s fair as the guest of honor, underscoring the strong and longstanding cultural ties between Algeria and Qatar. Speaking on behalf of Qatar\u2019s Minister of Culture, Abdul Rahman bin Hamad Al Thani, Qatar\u2019s Ambassador to Algeria, Abdulaziz Ali Al-Naama, expressed the importance of Qatar’s participation, emphasizing that it reflects a shared vision to transform cultural ideas into collaborative initiatives. He also highlighted the fair as an essential platform to promote reading and foster cultural exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
