Algeria’s Chayeb Represents Nation at High-Level Diaspora Policy Session in New York

Algeria’s Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of the National Diaspora Abroad, Soufiane Chayeb, participated Friday in a high-level session dedicated to the “Global Alliance for Diaspora Policies: Results, Actions and Sustainability” on the sidelines of the International Migration Review Forum in New York.

Chayeb told dzwatch that Algeria places exceptional importance on strengthening ties with its diaspora, rooted in deep historical and political foundations, viewing Algerians abroad as a genuine extension of the nation and a strategic partner in national development.

He highlighted major institutional achievements secured for the diaspora, ensuring full citizenship rights and active participation in political decision-making. Chayeb also outlined Algeria’s ongoing efforts to modernize and digitize consular services, streamlining procedures and bringing administration closer to citizens abroad.

He reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to expanding international cooperation and sharing best practices in diaspora policy, consolidating the country’s role as an active partner in the multilateral international system.
