African Business Integration: Algeria Key at El Alamein Summit
The Africa-El Alamein 2026 forum, gathering over 20 heads of state, major institutions, and private sector leaders, aims to transform political intentions into tangible commercial contracts. Scheduled to convene from October 2 to 4 in El Alamein, the event seeks to unleash Africa's economic integration potential by connecting key economic actors. In this significant context, Algeria is asserting a central and ambitious role, driven by its proactive economic diplomacy and substantial infrastructure projects. The forum, co-organized with the Egyptian government, Afreximbank, and Auda-Nepad, establishes a permanent business platform focused on accelerating the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), infrastructure financing, and industrial sovereignty to lessen external reliance.
Algeria's participation in the Africa-El Alamein forum underscores its determined efforts to solidify its position as a crucial economic player and investor across Africa. This status was recently affirmed at major events such as the Intra-African Trade Fair, which generated nearly $50 billion in memoranda of understanding and showcased Algeria's industrial capabilities. Beyond the confirmed attractiveness of the Algerian market, the nation's multi-dimensional engagement at the forum involves a strong presence of Algerian enterprises, primarily to promote the "made in Algeria" brand.
This promotional drive is complemented by highlighting structural reforms implemented by the Algerian Investment Promotion Agency (Aapi), which are designed to modernize and enhance the business climate. Furthermore, Algeria emphasizes the value of its mega-infrastructures, including the Trans-Saharan Road, the fiber optic backbone, and the expansion of its banking network within Africa. These initiatives are aimed at positioning Algeria as the natural logistics hub, connecting the Mediterranean region to the Sahel.
