Minister Baddari Oversees National University Residence Readiness for New Academic Year
Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Kamal Baddari, has intensified his field visits across Algeria to diligently monitor ongoing preparations for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year. These unannounced inspections included several university residences in the capital, Algiers, where Minister Baddari personally assessed the progress of rehabilitation and renovation works. He ensured the operational readiness of essential service and sports facilities, specifically inspecting locations such as Taleb Abderrahmane 1 and 2, Said Hamdine, and Haidra Center university residences, alongside their respective sports complexes and multi-sport halls. This direct oversight is part of the sector's commitment to identifying and promptly addressing any deficiencies, thereby guaranteeing the timely completion of all scheduled works before the academic year commences.
These proactive visits are integral to a broader, national program initiated by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, aimed at comprehensively rehabilitating and renovating university residences across various Algerian provinces. The overarching goal is to significantly improve the living conditions for both male and female students and to elevate the quality of services provided within university housing. Ongoing maintenance and enhancement projects are currently underway in several regions. In Djelfa province, the Shahid Chennouf Lakhdar university residence is undergoing extensive rehabilitation, focusing on network maintenance and essential equipment upgrades. Similar efforts are noted in Mostaganem at the Shahid Ould Aissa Belkacem residence, and in Constantine at Ain El Bey 18, where facilities are being improved to create more comfortable and suitable living spaces for students. M'Sila province also sees continuous field monitoring of rehabilitation works at residences including Chebchoub Essadek, Belkadi Mohamed, and Zerouak Ahmed, all geared towards ensuring full readiness.
Beyond the crucial physical infrastructure enhancements in university residences, the ministry's preparations encompass a holistic approach that integrates academic, pedagogical, and organizational reforms. This includes a concurrent drive to develop comprehensive university services and enhance the overall care provided to students.
