Saidal R&D Center Meeting Targets Biotechnology Production, Expertise

The Minister of Pharmaceutical Industry, Wassim Kouidri, recently chaired a working meeting at the Research and Development and Innovation Center of the public group Saidal in Algiers. The session, held with Saidal executives, focused on reviewing the progress of arrangements related to two key strategic projects: localizing peptide production within Algeria and establishing the Algerian Institute for Stem Cell Therapy. This initiative underscores ongoing efforts to develop the pharmaceutical industry and reinforce national health sovereignty.

The meeting provided an opportunity to assess various technical and scientific aspects of both projects. Discussions also included tracking current preparations, which involve close coordination with foreign partners. A primary objective of these collaborations is the transfer of expertise and technology, coupled with the development of specialized national competencies crucial for advancing Algeria's biotechnology sector.

Looking ahead, a specialized training program is set to launch in the coming months for a select group of young Saidal researchers and engineers in biotechnology. This program aims to equip them with mastery over modern techniques for peptide production, thereby contributing to the establishment of a robust national base of specialized competencies. These projects are considered strategically important due to the rapid advancements in biotechnology and advanced therapies, particularly in the production of high-value biological medicines and products, which will enhance national production capacities and scientific research in service of health sovereignty goals.
