Walis Intensify Field Monitoring of Water Supply

Walis (governors) across Algeria are intensifying field monitoring of drinking water supply to address disruptions and enhance national water security. These actions are undertaken in direct response to directives from the country's high authorities, aiming to strengthen water security and ensure the continuity of public service, particularly during periods of increased water demand. This initiative also implements instructions from the Minister of Interior, Local Collectivities, and Transport, Said Saayoud, to ensure regular water provision to citizens.
The ongoing field monitoring involves evaluating water distribution programs and identifying areas experiencing disruptions or deficiencies. Walis are tasked with pinpointing the causes of supply issues and actively working to ensure consistent water access for residents. Furthermore, the monitoring includes inspecting distribution networks and various water facilities to assess their readiness. Instructions have been issued to accelerate the pace of ongoing water projects, including the completion of workshops related to the construction and equipping of wells, tanks, and other water infrastructure. Emphasis is placed on adhering to contractual deadlines to bring completed projects into service as swiftly as possible.
In coordination with relevant technical services, efforts are underway to address recorded technical deficiencies, such as weak water flow and irregular distribution, thereby improving service quality. Local measures include launching campaigns to repair leaks within distribution networks and rehabilitating damaged sections. These interventions aim to recover wasted water quantities and enhance the overall efficiency and performance of the networks.
These comprehensive efforts by the walis are part of continuous field supervision throughout the provinces. The objective is to effectively implement public authorities' directives regarding water security, improve the public water service, and respond to citizens' concerns by ensuring a steady supply of drinking water. This approach combines immediate problem-solving with the acceleration of new infrastructure development and the reduction of waste, supporting the preservation of water resources and the sustainability of public services.
