Bank of Algeria Warns Against Fake Online Instruction
The Bank of Algeria has issued a public warning to internet users regarding a counterfeit document circulating online. The fabricated instruction, titled "Instruction No. 08-2026" and bearing a date of August 12, 2026, has been explicitly disavowed by the bank, which confirmed it is not among its official publications.
The central bank clarified that no modifications have been made to Instruction No. 07-2026, originally issued on July 13, 2026. This authentic instruction pertains to the allocation of exchange rights for individuals traveling abroad, specifically when utilizing an international payment card or a specialized international payment card designated for such exchange rights.
In light of the discovery of the fraudulent document, the Bank of Algeria's communication unit has urged citizens and all internet users to exercise caution. The bank emphasized the importance of exclusively relying on information and documents officially issued and published by the institution through its verified social media channels and its dedicated official website to ensure accuracy and prevent potential confusion.
