Oman Airports, Air Algérie Sign Air Services MoU

The Algerian Air Transport Complex (Air Algérie Group) and Oman Airports-Transom formalized a memorandum of understanding (MoU) in Algiers, aimed at enhancing cooperation and developing a partnership in air services. This agreement specifically targets ground handling and other air activity-related services. The signing ceremony was overseen by Hamza Ben Hamouda, Chief Executive Officer of Air Algérie Group, and Nasser bin Ahmed Al Sharji, Chief Executive Officer of Oman Airports-Transom. This initiative aligns with efforts to strengthen cooperative ties between Algeria and the Sultanate of Oman, implementing an executive cooperation program in transport, logistics, and digitalization established in the first half of 2026.

The MoU outlines plans to explore joint opportunities that will contribute to improving service quality and elevating the passenger experience. It also covers discussions on air cargo cooperation and the exchange of professional expertise and practices between the parties. This partnership is a key component of Air Algérie Group's strategy to expand its collaborations with international aviation sector players and associated services, leveraging mutual expertise for shared interests. The agreement holds particular significance in advancing air connectivity between Algeria and Oman, especially in light of the planned direct Algiers-Muscat air route, slated for launch in 2027.

Concurrently, Algeria's Minister of Interior, Local Communities, and Transport, Said Saayoud, received Oman's Ambassador to Algeria, Saif bin Nasser bin Rashid Al Badaei, in Algiers to discuss methods for bolstering bilateral cooperation across various transport sectors. During the meeting, Minister Saayoud commended the regular visits by Algerian and Omani delegations, noting that these reflect the profound fraternal relations between the two nations. He also praised the recently signed MoU, describing it as a significant contribution to the ongoing cooperation between Algeria and Oman in air transport, affirming that Algerian-Omani relations are progressing positively thanks to the shared will of their leaderships. Both parties reiterated the importance of continued coordination, consultation, and enhanced bilateral cooperation to unlock broader partnership prospects across all modes of transport.
