President Tebboune Institutes National Prophetic Biography Award
The official gazette has published a presidential decree formally establishing the 'Algeria Prize for the Biography of Prophet El Khalida.' Instituted by President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, this new award aims to foster the study of the Prophet Mohammed's biography and moral virtues. Its objectives also include encouraging the memorization and understanding of prophetic texts across all societal age groups and instilling prophetic values, particularly among younger generations. This initiative underscores the Algerian state's keen interest and the deep attachment of Algerians to the Prophet's biography and noble prophetic texts.
The prize structure includes multiple competitive categories designed to engage diverse participants. An annual national encouragement competition is dedicated to young memorizers of prophetic texts, alongside an annual national competition for adult memorizers. Additionally, a triennial international competition is organized, also focusing on the memorization of prophetic texts. The decree specifies that the awards will be presented during a 'National Week of the Noble Biography of the Prophet,' which culminates in the prize ceremony coinciding with the sacred month of Moharram, marking the blessed Hijra.
Winners of these competitions will receive a certificate of merit along with a financial reward, with specific amounts allocated based on the competition category and ranking. For instance, the first-place winner in the young memorizers' encouragement category, requiring memorization of 100 prophetic texts, will receive 500,000 Algerian Dinars. In the national adult memorizers' category, where 400 prophetic texts must be memorized, the first-place laureate is awarded 1,000,000 Algerian Dinars. The prestigious international adult competition, also requiring 400 memorized texts, offers a first-place prize of 3,250,000 Algerian Dinars. Further details regarding participation conditions and modalities will be outlined in a ministerial order issued by the Minister of Religious Affairs, and jury commissions, composed of national and international experts in prophetic texts and biography, are to be established to oversee the awards.
