Su-57E Fighter Jet Debuts Publicly, Algeria a Top Prospect

The export version of the advanced Su-57E fifth-generation fighter jet, featuring previously unexhibited armament, is set for its public debut at the El Alamein International Airshow 2026 in Egypt. This premier presentation, scheduled for September 8-10, will showcase the aircraft both in flight demonstrations and with new aviation munitions on its suspension points. Algeria has been widely identified as the most probable potential acquirer of this advanced platform, signaling a significant enhancement to its defense capabilities.

The strong indication of Algeria as a key potential operator stems from statements made by Algerian state television in February 2025, alongside comments from Vadim Badeha, head of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC), in November 2025, concerning the transfer of two aircraft to an unnamed foreign partner. While official joint confirmation of such a deal has not been published by Moscow and Algiers, international military observers have noted these developments. Rostec, the state corporation, affirms that deliveries of the Su-57 are currently underway to international customers.

The Su-57 is a flagship aircraft, with its capabilities reportedly confirmed in real combat operations, according to Rostec. The corporation has emphasized that new modifications of the fighter are becoming "more effective and dangerous." The upcoming display in Egypt is part of an active marketing campaign by UAC, aiming to strengthen Russia's position in the African and Middle Eastern arms markets. The Su-57E has previously been showcased at international events in China, India, and Dubai.
