National Junior Badminton Team Aims for Continental Gold

Algeria's national youth badminton team, consisting of 13 athletes, including six females and seven males, has set its primary objective: to win the African title at the upcoming continental championship. The tournament, scheduled to take place from September 28 to October 3, represents a significant opportunity for the squad to secure a substantial number of gold medals and reinforce Algeria's standing in continental badminton.

Salim Mazri, President of the Badminton Federation, conveyed his full confidence in the capabilities of the participating athletes, urging them to deliver positive and honorable results to elevate the national flag. This message of encouragement aims to empower the players to focus solely on the competition, building on Algeria's established tradition in badminton, which is evident from the positive outcomes achieved by national representatives in various continental and international events. This African championship also serves as a crucial preparatory phase for the team, offering valuable experience against high-level competition before their participation in the Youth Olympic Games, set to occur in Dakar, Senegal, from October 31 to November 13. The Technical Directorate of the Algerian Badminton Federation has carefully selected top performers from recent national championships, aiming to ensure medal success at both the African and Olympic levels. The focus on the youth category is integral to the federation's long-term agenda, which seeks to develop future champions capable of representing Algeria in prestigious future events, including the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
