Algiers Directorate Reinforces Public Transport with 10 New Buses

The Directorate of Mobility, Transport, and Traffic for Algiers Province has announced plans to strengthen the capital's public transport network. This initiative involves introducing additional lines designed to enhance citizen mobility and broaden service coverage across various municipalities, particularly in areas with growing demand for transportation. Two new lines are specifically being established for the municipality of Saoula, a development expected to significantly ease commuting challenges for its residents.
The new services include a line connecting Saoula and Gachaatla, which will be served by five buses, each accommodating over 25 passengers. A second line, linking Gachaatla and Baba Ali, will also receive five buses, each with more than 12 seats. Regulatory conditions stipulate that all vehicles operating on these new routes must be less than 25 years old. The Directorate recently issued a public invitation on its social media platform, inviting interested investors who meet the specified criteria to submit their applications for operating these new lines and bolstering connectivity in the affected areas.
These new lines are being launched amidst ongoing efforts to revitalize Algiers' transport network, which has seen several routes reinforced and new lines opened across various municipalities. These improvements have been well-received by citizens, notably with the introduction of ETUSA (Urban and Suburban Transport Company) buses on several routes, providing travelers with additional choices and mitigating daily commuting difficulties. The expansion of the transport network is expected to offer residents broader mobility options and alleviate pressure on currently congested routes, further enhancing public transport access for neighborhoods and new residential areas.
