Farmers Receive New Package of Financial and Tax Support

The Algerian government has introduced a new package of support measures for farmers across the nation. This initiative follows a recent meeting chaired by the Prime Minister, which focused on the state of the national market and strategies to ensure the availability of widely consumed agricultural products, including vegetables, white meats, and red meats. The announcement was made public by the National Federation of Poultry Farmers, an entity affiliated with the Algerian Farmers Union.

The comprehensive package encompasses several key areas designed to assist farmers and agricultural operators. One significant measure is a tax exemption, confirming that farmers in general, and poultry farmers specifically, will not be subject to taxes related to their agricultural activities, in accordance with the existing legal framework. Additionally, financial support is being extended through directives issued to all public banks, urging them to accompany and finance agricultural projects and investments.

To further streamline operations, procedures for importing agricultural production inputs have been simplified. Farmers can now submit import files directly to the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Fisheries, bypassing the previously required digital platform. The National Federation of Poultry Farmers expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister and the participating ministers for their attention to the agricultural sector, their commitment to supporting farmers and breeders, and their responsiveness to sector concerns, particularly highlighting the continuous support from the Minister of Agriculture. The Federation also commended the ongoing efforts of the higher authorities to support farmers and ensure consistent field monitoring through regular meetings.
