Tebboune Announces ‘War’ on Drugs, Confirms Saboteur Presence

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has officially declared that the challenge posed by illicit drugs has escalated into a "war." This strong presidential statement underscores the gravity of the situation, directly referencing the recent substantial quantities of drugs seized by authorities. These seizures, according to the President, confirm the presence of "saboteurs" within the nation who aim to undermine societal stability and security.
The President's declaration emphasizes Algeria's resolute commitment to safeguarding national security and protecting its citizens from the detrimental impact of drug trafficking. The significant seizures serve as concrete evidence of the ongoing threat, reinforcing the government's determination to combat these illicit activities with heightened intensity. This proactive stance aims to counter the efforts of those identified as "saboteurs," ensuring the well-being and integrity of Algerian society.
In reaffirming his government's firm position, President Tebboune reiterated specific punitive measures targeting those involved in severe criminal acts. He confirmed the decision to allocate Tinerkouk prison specifically for drug kingpins, signifying a specialized and stringent approach to incarcerating major offenders. Furthermore, the President underscored the application of the death penalty for perpetrators of heinous crimes such as forest fires and child abductions, signaling a comprehensive strategy to maintain public order and deter grave offenses against the Algerian people.
