Annaba Port, New Rail Lines Support 2027 Fertilizer Production

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has affirmed that Algeria is on schedule to implement a significant project for the integration and conversion of concentrated phosphate into fertilizers. This initiative is set to commence by the first quarter of 2027, marking a key step in the nation's industrial development. The President previously noted the laying of the foundation stone for a facility designed to facilitate this transformation.
Initially, the project will involve selling a portion of the concentrated phosphate, while the remaining quantity will be directed towards fertilizer production. Critical infrastructure developments are underway to support this venture. A new railway line connected to the project is anticipated to be completed by the end of the current year, with a potential acceleration of two months, aiming for readiness by the end of October.
Further reinforcing the project's logistical capabilities, the expansion of Annaba port is scheduled for completion. A Chinese company will undertake the installation of specialized equipment and machinery at the port. President Tebboune emphasized that these concurrent operations are crucial to meeting the established deadline, ensuring the project's readiness within the first quarter of 2027. These details were shared during his periodic interview with representatives of the national press.
