Forest Fire Victims to Receive $900 Million in State Aid

President Abdelmadjid Tebboune has announced a substantial allocation of 900 million dollars dedicated to compensating individuals affected by recent forest fires. This significant measure aims to alleviate the material and personal damages incurred by citizens in the affected areas.

The President's statement also provided context regarding the origins of some of these destructive events, noting that certain fires were deemed criminal in nature, involving individuals identified as mentally unbalanced. This detail sheds light on the challenges faced in preventing such incidents.

The allocation underscores the Algerian state's commitment to supporting its citizens in the aftermath of natural disasters and other crises. The country has previously experienced severe forest fires, including those in 2021, which tragically resulted in the deaths of 80 soldiers and a total of over 190 victims, highlighting the ongoing impact of such events on communities.
