NAAPEC 2026 Kicks Off in Oran, Securing Key Energy Agreements

The 14th edition of the Africa & Mediterranean Energy and Hydrogen Exhibition and Conference, NAAPEC 2026, commenced in Oran, Algeria, at the Mohamed Ben Ahmed Convention Center. The event, which spans several days, has been a platform for signing a series of memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements aimed at fostering partnerships, exchanging expertise, and developing collaboration within the hydrocarbon sector.

During the conference, notable agreements were formalized under the supervision of Minister of Hydrocarbons Mohamed Arkab. These included an agreement protocol between the Hydrocarbon Regulatory Authority and Eni Algeria Exploration, designed to establish a framework for cooperation and the exchange of technical and regulatory expertise in hydrocarbon activities. Additionally, a memorandum of understanding wass signed between the National Agency for Hydrocarbon Resources Valorization, ALNAFT, and the Thai company PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP), creating a framework to explore hydrocarbon mining investment opportunities in Algeria.

On the sidelines of NAAPEC 2026, Minister Arkab conducted a series of bilateral meetings with leaders and representatives of major international companies operating in the hydrocarbon sector. Discussions were held with the CEO of PTT Exploration and Production, the CEO of the Omani group OQ, and the General Manager and CEO of the American company Occidental Petroleum in Algeria, focusing on expanding and developing cooperation in hydrocarbon exploration, production, and petrochemicals. Further engagement included talks with the UK Ambassador and a representative from British company Clarke Energy, centered on enhancing cooperation and partnership between Algeria and the United Kingdom within the hydrocarbon sector and the broader oil and gas industry.
