Capital Metro System Extends to Baraki, Bab El Oued, Airport

Major extension works for the Algiers Metro lines are actively progressing across several routes, forming part of a strategic development plan aimed at modernizing the capital and diversifying its transport methods. These significant infrastructure projects, undertaken within the framework of the "Yellow Plan," seek to enhance urban mobility and improve daily travel conditions for residents, contributing to the city's economic and urban aesthetic.

Progress is observed on the line extending from Ain Naadja station towards the municipality of Baraki, where works continue at Belarbi station in the "Jneina" Garden in central Baraki. This particular extension will connect Ain Naadja to central Baraki, covering a distance of six kilometers and incorporating six new stations, with tunnel excavation planned to commence following the completion of this phase. Concurrently, efforts are underway to extend the metro line from Martyrs' Square towards Bab El Oued, focusing on the construction of the Taleb Abderrahmane station, a nine-kilometer route for which tunnel excavation is slated to begin after the current stage.

Additionally, the project includes the construction of a vital line connecting Bach Djerrah station to Houari Boumediene International Airport, traversing Bab Ezzouar. Works on this airport link are reportedly in advanced stages, showing noticeable progress across various construction phases and nearing completion. These comprehensive metro expansions are integral to a broader vision for updating Algiers' urban transport infrastructure, aiming to improve connectivity, support population density areas, and ultimately enhance the city's functional efficiency and appeal.
