Oslo Hosts ‘Algeria Day’ for Economic Cooperation

Algeria officially launched "Algeria Day" in Oslo, Norway, as a special guest of honor ahead of the 15th Nordic-Africa Economic Summit. The event was co-presided by Algerian Minister of Agriculture, Rural Development, and Fisheries, Sid Ali Khaldi, and Norwegian Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy, Marianne Sivertsen Næss. This dedicated day served to highlight Algeria's economic and cultural strengths while promoting investment and partnership opportunities with Norway.

The selection of Algeria as a special guest reflected the trust and respect from Norway, as well as a shared commitment to enhancing bilateral relations. Minister Khaldi emphasized the dynamic political and diplomatic ties between the two nations, expressing a mutual desire to broaden cooperation beyond the energy sector to include areas like agriculture and fisheries. A significant outcome of "Algeria Day" was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Oslo Chamber of Commerce, establishing an institutional framework to facilitate closer engagement between businesses from both countries.

Minister Khaldi underscored Algeria's strategic focus on the agricultural sector, which is considered vital for achieving food security and diversifying the national economy, receiving particular attention from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune. He encouraged Norwegian investors to explore partnership opportunities in Algeria, citing reforms aimed at improving the business climate, including a stable legal investment framework, the implementation of a one-stop shop, and enhanced guarantees for foreign partners. The event also featured an exhibition of Algerian products, inaugurated by both ministers, further showcasing the country's economic potential.
