ALNAFT Promotes 2026 Bid Round at African Energy Week

Algeria's National Agency for the Valorization of Hydrocarbon Resources (ALNAFT) is actively promoting the 'Algeria Bid Round 2026' at the African Energy Week (AEW) conference in Cape Town, South Africa, which runs from October 12 to 16. The agency's participation aims to attract significant international investment into Algeria's hydrocarbon sector. A dedicated session at AEW will focus on the bid round, Algeria's exploration potential, and the evolving investment framework for the upstream sector, aligning with the upcoming closure of the bid round's data rooms on November 30.

The 'Algeria Bid Round 2026', launched by ALNAFT in April, has garnered interest from approximately 60 international energy companies. The process is set to continue with the submission of offers and the opening of envelopes on January 25, 2027. Hydrocarbon contracts with Sonatrach are expected to be signed by March 31, 2027. In June, ALNAFT inaugurated virtual data rooms, marking the first use of this digital platform for a hydrocarbon bid round in Algeria, allowing qualified investors remote access to technical data for the seven offered blocks situated in established hydrocarbon regions such as the Illizi and Berkine basins.

ALNAFT's presence at African Energy Week is part of an ongoing international promotional program. This broader strategy has included participation in events such as the Global Energies Summit on September 29-30, where ALNAFT's head, Abdelkader Cherfaoui, presented Algeria's vision for upstream investments. The agency also participated in the 14th edition of the Energy and Hydrogen for Africa and the Mediterranean Basin Exhibition and Conference (NAPEC 2026) in Oran earlier in October.
