Ministry of Post, Roblox Partner for Developer Training, Child Safety

The Algerian Ministry of Post and Telecommunications has reached a preliminary partnership agreement with the global platform Roblox, signaling a step towards integrating new digital technologies. This initial collaboration aims to establish a specialized training program for Algerian developers, providing them with the necessary technical skills to design and develop electronic games. The initiative is intended to empower national talents to market their software products globally and enter the international gaming market as independent creators or entrepreneurs.

A crucial aspect of this agreement involves strict technical and ethical standards mandated by Algerian authorities for the protection of children and minors in the digital space. In response, Roblox has implemented an age identification mechanism for content adaptation and expanded parental control tools to manage usage time and financial monitoring. The platform has also enhanced support for both Arabic and the Algerian dialect, alongside dedicating rapid channels for reporting inappropriate content.

Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Sid Ali Zerouki, affirmed that the protection of children in the digital realm is a national priority for Algeria. He emphasized that the country's approach balances technological openness with a full respect for social and cultural values. While the partnership progresses, the interactive chat feature on Roblox will remain non-functional for all users in Algeria, pending the readiness of advanced technical and regulatory systems designed for Arabic content monitoring and management. This move is expected to solidify the involvement of Algerian youth in the promising electronic games market, with final partnership details to be announced upon completion of technical arrangements.
