Tiaret, Algiers, Ouargla to Host Three New Festivals

Algeria has officially established three new cultural festivals, formalizing their creation through ministerial decrees published in Official Gazette No. 70. These initiatives are set to enhance national heritage promotion and foster international cultural exchanges across various domains.
One of the newly instituted events is the National Traditional Equestrian Cultural Festival, which will be held annually in Tiaret. This festival's establishment was specified in a ministerial decree dated June 22, 2026, marking a commitment to preserving and celebrating traditional equestrian practices within the nation.
Furthermore, two international festivals focused on youth culture have been established. The International Children and Youth Book Industry Cultural Festival is slated to take place in Algiers, while Ouargla will host the International Children and Youth Literature and Culture Festival. Both of these international events were formalized by ministerial decrees dated July 1, 2026. The decree for the Ouargla-based festival also includes the abrogation of a previous decree from December 8, 2013, which had established an International Festival of Books, Literature, and Poetry.
