Chlef Hosts National Craftsmanship, Traditional Attire Exhibition

The 4th National Exhibition of Craftsmanship and Traditional Attire was inaugurated on Wednesday at the "Abdelmadjid Meziane" National Public Museum in Chlef. This event brings together 33 exhibitors from ten wilayas across the country. According to the wilaya Director of Culture and Arts, the exhibition aims to preserve both tangible and intangible cultural heritage, while actively promoting local and national traditional attire, in line with directives from the supervising ministry. Organized by the museum, and inaugurated by a representative of the Ministry of Culture and Arts in the presence of the wali of Chlef, the manifestation has garnered significant enthusiasm from artisans.

The exhibition serves as a key platform to highlight Algeria's cultural diversity and raise awareness of traditional costumes, contributing to their national and international classification. The museum director noted that the display includes a wide array of attire characteristic of the Chlef region, such as the Ghelaf, Kazaka, and Mansoudj. These local garments are showcased alongside other emblematic pieces like the Chedda of Tlemcen, the Kabyle Djebba, the Oranaise Blouza, and the historical attire of Emir Abdelkader, providing a comprehensive overview of Algeria's rich sartorial heritage.

Beyond the traditional garments, this two-day exhibition features specialists in various Algerian crafts, including Zellige art, glass painting, pottery, and ceramics. Since its opening, the event has attracted considerable interest from visitors, underscoring its role in celebrating and advancing Algeria's diverse artistic and cultural traditions.
