Putin Hails Algeria as Close Partner, Ally

Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly affirmed Algeria's position as "one of our closest partners and allies," a statement made during his participation in the "Delovaïa Rossia" (Business Russia) forum. This event focused on economic issues and relations with international partners, providing a platform for President Putin to laud the "excellent relations" shared between the two nations. He emphasized that both countries have consistently upheld their commitments, with neither having "ever disappointed" the other, a testament to Algeria's role as an "extremely responsible partner."
The Russian President's remarks highlighted the extensive nature of the bilateral partnership, which spans "very varied" areas beyond traditional commercial exchanges such as food products. The cooperation between Algeria and Russia extends into several strategic sectors, including energy, economic exchanges, technological collaboration, and security issues. This broad engagement solidifies Algeria's significant standing in Russia's foreign policy, particularly within the crucial regions of North Africa and the Mediterranean basin.
For Moscow, Algeria is recognized as a major interlocutor on the African continent and an important partner in the Mediterranean. Conversely, Algiers maintains a diplomatic approach rooted in national sovereignty, the diversification of partnerships, and the defense of its strategic interests, which includes fostering diversified relations with major global powers. President Putin's declaration, therefore, serves to underscore a mutual desire to preserve and strengthen a bilateral partnership characterized by continuity, reciprocal trust, and a convergence of interests in a dynamic international environment.
