Digital Transformation: 11 Projects Win Algerian Tourism Innovation Award

The first national competition for smart tourism innovation, named "IA Tour Algérie 2026," has concluded with 11 projects announced as winners. The Ministry of Tourism and Handicrafts made this announcement, following a rigorous evaluation process. The competition attracted 104 participants representing 29 wilayas, alongside members of the Algerian community residing abroad, demonstrating wide national engagement.

A national committee was responsible for evaluating and judging the nominated projects. The selected projects were chosen for their alignment with the approved technical standards for the smart promotion of national tourist destinations and their effective use of modern technologies. Ms. Houria Madahi, the Minister of Tourism and Handicrafts, presided over a working meeting with the evaluation committee to oversee the process.

The winners of the "IA Tour Algérie 2026" competition are set to be honored during the International Handicrafts Exhibition, scheduled to take place from December 3 to December 7, 2026. This recognition acknowledges their excellence and creativity in the field of digitalization. Furthermore, committee members have proposed establishing this competition as an annual event, aiming to embed a culture of digitalization and innovation within Algeria's national tourism system. This initiative aligns with the vision of the country's higher authorities, which emphasizes embracing digital transformation and leveraging modern technologies to build a digital tourism framework that effectively promotes Algeria's distinct image, authenticity, and rich historical heritage.
