A delegation of private Algerian startups recently participated in the eighth edition of MTL Connecte 2026, an international event held from October 13 to 16 in Montreal, Quebec. The Algerian Consul General in Montreal received the delegation, marking official support for their engagement. This global forum is dedicated to digital transformations, artificial intelligence, and the crucial concept of digital sovereignty, drawing participants from across the globe.

MTL Connecte 2026 convened digital industry leaders, enterprises, institutions, and policymakers to discuss significant technological advancements and their societal and economic impacts. The event's agenda centered on four core themes: cybersecurity and digital identity, artificial intelligence, culture and creativity, and the relationship between territories and humanities. Algerian startups' participation underscores the nation's increasing involvement in international innovation and new technologies.

A central focus of this year's MTL Connecte was digital sovereignty, alongside the role of the Francophonie in technology development. Discussions explored how territories can effectively manage their digital tools, safeguard data, and cultivate innovations tailored to their unique circumstances. The event also actively sought to foster exchanges and establish international collaborations among francophone digital ecosystems spanning the Americas, Africa, and Europe, positioning Algerian participants within a network for future partnerships.
