The second meeting of the Algerian-Tunisian follow-up committee, dedicated to the development and promotion of border regions, recently commenced its work in Algeria's El Oued province. The discussions, held at the Taleb El Arbi border post, underscored a mutual commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation and supporting the growth of shared border areas. This gathering continues the implementation of recommendations from the joint commission, reflecting ongoing efforts to foster regional progress.

The meeting saw participation from a significant number of officials from both nations. Representing Algeria were the Walis of El Oued, Ouargla, Tébessa, Bir El Ater, Souk Ahras, and El Tarf. The Tunisian delegation included governors from Jendouba, Kef, Kasserine, Gafsa, Tozeur, Kébili, and Tataouine, alongside representatives from various Tunisian ministries, security, customs, and civil protection departments. This collaborative effort embodies the shared will of President Abdelmadjid Tebboune of Algeria and President Kais Saied of Tunisia to enhance bilateral cooperation and stimulate development in these strategic regions.

Discussions focused on improving living conditions for border populations, boosting economic and commercial exchanges, and encouraging investment. The committee also aimed to expand partnership areas, remove obstacles to joint projects, and establish legal guarantees essential for successful collaborations. Recommendations from the joint commission cover multiple sectors, including tourism, energy, commerce, transport, and industry, further reinforcing relations between the border governorates of both countries and ensuring sustainable development.
