Saidal to Launch 2,000-Tonne Paracetamol Plant in Batna

Saidal, the Algerian public pharmaceutical group, is set to launch production at its new paracetamol plant in Batna within the next nine months. Announced by Saidal CEO Bouarada Younes, this strategic facility is projected to produce approximately 2,000 tonnes of paracetamol raw material annually. The initiative marks a significant step towards bolstering Algeria's pharmaceutical independence and reducing its reliance on imports, aligning with national economic reorientations to establish health sovereignty and invigorate local production.

Located in the Kechida industrial zone west of Batna city, the state-of-the-art facility spans 11,000 square meters and represents a total investment of 6.75 billion dinars. Designed with the latest technological standards and incorporating advanced industrial equipment, the plant adheres strictly to international quality and safety benchmarks. A technical partnership with a foreign operator is facilitating the transfer of essential know-how and expertise to national professionals. Beyond its economic impact, the project is expected to generate at least 150 direct jobs and hundreds of indirect opportunities, fostering socio-economic dynamism in the region.

The Batna paracetamol plant is an integral component of Saidal's ambitious overarching strategy. The group currently has four additional plants under construction nationwide, focusing on the production of other vital pharmaceutical raw materials, including anticancer drugs and antibiotics. Saidal's vision extends beyond national requirements; it already exports products to over eleven African countries and plans to intensify its continental expansion. This involves technology transfer and targeted support for local production development in partner countries, with a particular focus on key markets such as Benin for West Africa and Tanzania for East Africa. The imminent commissioning of the Batna unit is poised to consolidate Algeria's national health security and establish its position as a pivotal regional pharmaceutical hub.
