Amel Abdellatif Strengthens Consumer Protection with Mourafik Com Update
Internal Trade and National Market Regulation Minister Amel Abdellatif has announced a new update to the existing Mourafik Com app and online platform, adding a feature that lets consumers report pricing, hygiene and safety violations directly to the authorities.
ALGIERS — The country is strengthening its digital tools for market oversight. Abdellatif announced an update to the Mourafik Com mobile application, already used to monitor commercial activity, along with an upgraded online platform for tracking reports and complaints.
According to the minister, the initiative follows directives from President Abdelmadjid Tebboune to step up market controls and ensure the steady availability of essential goods. Inspection teams will intensify field checks and carry out daily price monitoring, with the stated aim of protecting purchasing power.
The update will allow citizens to flag infractions related to pricing, food hygiene and consumer safety in real time, bringing everyday shoppers into the monitoring of the market.
By combining on the ground inspections with citizen participation, authorities say they aim to make the market more transparent and better protect consumers.
