Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics Welcomes Algerian Archers for First Time

The final list for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games has confirmed the participation of Algerian archers. This marks a historic entry for the nation's representatives, as they are among the first archers from Algeria to compete at a Youth Olympic Games. This significant inclusion highlights Algerian youth talent on an international stage.

The Dakar 2026 Games, postponed from 2022, will be held in the Senegalese capital from November 6-10, 2026, marking the first time the Youth Olympic Games are hosted in Africa. Archery, a discipline featured since Singapore 2010, Nanjing 2014, and Buenos Aires 2018, will include 32 archers each in the recurve men's and women's under-18 categories. Additionally, 50 of the 64 total athletes are set to compete in the mixed team tournament.

Algerian archers join a strong African contingent at the Games, with 13 archers hailing from the continent in total, representing nations such as Côte d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mauritius, South Africa, Tunisia, and Egypt. This participation underscores Algeria's growing presence in international sports and celebrates its athletes' achievements on a global platform.
