Algiers-Shanghai Direct Flight Expands Algerian-Chinese Connectivity

Air Algérie has successfully launched its first direct flight from Algiers to Shanghai, with the inaugural service transporting 175 passengers. This new direct air bridge between Algiers and Shanghai marks a significant development in air connectivity, reinforcing commercial and transport ties between Algeria and China.
The Algiers-Shanghai air route represents a strategic development in air connectivity, offering significant opportunities for expanded trade exchanges and Algerian exports. The direct link, which reduces travel time to approximately 14 hours and offers three weekly flights, facilitates Algerian businessmen's travel to China, enabling them to follow up on import orders and engage directly with Chinese companies and factories. Experts highlight that China is a major trade partner for Algeria, underscoring the importance of improved air links for enhancing communication and bilateral cooperation.
Beyond trade, this direct flight is expected to attract Chinese investments to Algeria by facilitating the movement of investors and company representatives, thus fostering new partnerships across various sectors. It also provides opportunities for Algerian institutions to benefit from modern technology and industrial expertise, aiming to develop national production capacities and enhance their competitiveness. This initiative supports a shift towards broader industrial cooperation, joint production, and knowledge transfer, aligning with efforts to diversify Algeria's economy and expand its presence in international markets.
